They are colourful, they are fresh, they are simply awesome: of course, we are talking about the new Chimpy advertising that set out to conquer Europe.
Anyone who had to go to the kiosk in Switzerland in the last few days and weeks to satisfy their cigarette addiction or steal a pack of chewing gum could not overlook them: the new Chimpy advertising campaign. At hundreds of points of sale of our partner, the good pieces hung on walls, newspaper deliverers, stuck to the cash register or – hold on – were even animated as screen videos.
With the new fresh look we finally wiped the virus stench off our shoulders and welcomed the summer with open arms. And because a little freshness couldn’t hurt not only Switzerland but also EU Europe, we quickly made our advertising campaign an export hit. In other words: the fine advertising material can also be seen in Germany, Paris and Barcelona.
Wait, wasn’t there something else? Yes and no.
One of our layouts (price question: which one!?) was branded as racist in the course of the protests around the Black Lives Matter movement. Shitstorm? If two mails are considered a shitstorm, then yes. Nevertheless, the complaints were clearly taken seriously by us and could be cleared up with the respective persons. A task that Creative Brand Manager Clement (yep, also author of this text) took over. The reaction when he (i.e. me) heard about the accusations for the first time:
