Rack & Display Guidelines

Learn how to use the rack correctly and adapt to different Store layouts.

Purpose of the Rack

The Chimpy rack is designed to serve two key purposes:

  1. Visibility – Customers should immediately understand that powerbanks are available for rent

  2. Operations – Staff should be able to quickly access and handle powerbanks during busy moments

A well-placed and well-organized rack helps increase usage and ensures smooth daily operations.

Chimpy is a portable powerbank rental service that allows customers to charge their phone anytime while they are on the go. Customers can rent a powerbank at your store and return it later at any Chimpy partner location. This makes the service flexible and convenient, especially for people who are travelling, commuting, or spending time outside.

Where to Place the Rack

The rack should always be placed:

  • Clearly visible to customers

  • Close to the checkout area

  • Behind or next to the counter (not freely accessible)

This ensures that:

  • Customers notice the service

  • Staff stays in control of the powerbanks

Promotional vs Operational Use

The rack has two functions:

Promotional (Customer-facing)

Helps customers discover Chimpy

  • Should be placed where it is easy to see

  • Can be supported with signage (e.g. stickers, posters, dummy units)

Operational (Staff-facing)

Used for storing and handling charged powerbanks

  • Should be positioned for quick and easy access

  • Must stay organized at all times

How to Set Up the Rack

Place only charged powerbanks in the rack

  • Keep the rack clean and tidy

  • Ensure cables are neatly arranged

  • Do not overload or mix items

💡 Tip: A clean and structured rack makes it easier and faster for staff to work.

Storage Rules

To avoid confusion and errors:

  • Rack / Display → only charged powerbanks (ready to rent)

  • Box → returned powerbanks (not ready for use)

⚠️ Never mix charged and returned powerbanks.

Adapting to Different Store Layouts

Every store is different. The setup should be adapted based on:

  • Available space

  • Customer flow

  • Staff workflow

Best practices:

Keep walking paths clear

  • Avoid hidden or hard-to-reach placements

  • Ensure staff can access powerbanks quickly during peak times

Using Inlays & Inserts

Some racks or boxes include inlays or foam inserts to organize powerbanks.

  • Follow the current setup (may change over time)

  • Ensure powerbanks fit securely

  • Adjust placement if inlays are updated

⚠️ Note: Designs may change (e.g. new 24-powerbank systems), so always stay flexible.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

❌ Placing rack where customers cannot see it

❌ Allowing customers to access powerbanks directly

❌ Mixing charged and returned units

❌ Overcrowding or disorganizing the rack

❌ Ignoring new layout or hardware updates

Summary

A good rack setup should be:

  • Visible for customers

  • Practical for staff

  • Clean and organized

Your goal is to make Chimpy:

👉 easy to see for customers

👉 fast and simple to operate for staff
