Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword — we’ve been all in since day one. It starts with transparency, so here’s what we’ve done and what’s next.

Chimpy was born to sneak sustainability into everyone’s daily life. How? By making the most convenient option also the most sustainable one. When your phone dies, the easiest fix is renting a powerbank — ours is solar-charged and circular.

But we go further, constantly improving how we power our operations and extend our powerbanks' lifespan — because better is always possible.

The heart of our service

By making both powerbank rentals and returns effortless, we keep them in circulation longer. Each returned powerbank is cleaned, tested, recharged, and repackaged — extending its life and keeping our service truly circular.

And it works: In three years, our return rate rose from 64% to 72%.

Reuse is at the core of everything we do — from second-hand furniture to car-sharing, it’s embedded in our daily operations.

Powered by the sun

Our powerbanks run on 100% clean, renewable energy. We’ve invested in 80 sqm of solar panels at Solar Züri and 40 sqm at Solar Grischun, securing 20 years of solar power.

Reduce

Minimizing our footprint

We cut emissions with e-cargo bikes, trains over planes, and smarter logistics — 10x less CO₂ per km. In 2024, we reached CO₂ neutrality by offsetting unavoidable emissions through local projects. Sustainability is deeply rooted in our culture, from vegetarian meals to choosing car rentals.

Sustainability means caring for both the planet and people. We foster a supportive, fun workplace with six weeks of holiday and flexible work options. Our long-term partnerships in China and Hong Kong ensure fair conditions, ethical practices, and a safe working environment.
