Fresh eyes, fresh ideas: how designers are shaping Chimpy

When you're rolling out to new cities and stores where nobody knows you yet, getting noticed at checkout becomes everything. That's why, at the end of 2025, we decided to ask for help.

We launched a design contest, inviting product and industrial designers, students, and freelancers across Europe to reimagine how Chimpy could look in-store.

The brief: create a minimal, space-efficient placement concept that works in clean, modern convenience stores—places where our current wooden racks just didn't fit anymore.

The response? Over 100 submissions from across Europe.

Each one tackled the challenge from a different angle. Some went bold and sculptural. Others leaned into ultra-minimal simplicity. A few even played with lighting and materials in ways we hadn't considered before. It was exactly what we hoped for: fresh perspectives from people who didn't have to think inside our usual constraints.

After a tough selection process, we found our winner: Michail Sgouropoulos.

His concept nailed it. Practical, clean, eye-catching, and instantly communicates what Chimpy is, both to first-timers and people who've used us before. It's the kind of design that fits seamlessly into a modern retail environment while still standing out at the exact moment it needs to.

To everyone who submitted: thank you. You've given us a lot to think about as we keep refining what Chimpy looks like in stores across Europe. And to Michail: congrats.

But for us this is just a great start. Now it’s about developing the ideas further, field testing different options and keep improving.
